A (JAP) movie about Japan's secret weapons for war?

My Dad told me to look for a movie about Japanese secret weapons. He said the beginning was english newspapers talking about "Japan's new weapons for war!". And the weapons were like two 20 ft tall guys. After the war they retired, but then come back because Japan is being attacked by monsters of something. It was kinda vague but what other movie is like this? XD
