How to become a National Geographic photographer?

My name is Hannah West, I am 16 yrs old and aspire to be a professional photographer. I always just wanted to have my own studio and do things like senior and family portraits. I am already starting on my career by doing local people's photos. (check out my fan page, Hannah West Photography, on fbook!) but I've recently gotten a job in the local newspaper by taking pictures for them. I thought about it, and now I am determined to become a National Geographic photographer. I want to start trying early so I have a better chance of getting the job when I'm older. Any ideas on how to kickstart my interest?? Thanks for your support and help!! :)
